Stargazing on the Rooftop
In modern times and the urban jungles we live in, it is truly a luxury to have a rooftop deck or terrace. It is only possible if you live in a standalone house or if you are lucky to have balcony of the size of a room in your flat. Imagine sipping tea on the rooftop deck while its drizzling around you. You could enjoy the quiet and solitude and let the thoughts wander or enjoy a quiet candle light dinner or may be just lie around and stargaze with the kids. There are some sure shot ways to making the deck a perfectly relaxing place or an inviting place for entertaining.
There is something intrinsically warm about having a sundeck with wooden flooring. These are easy to manage and clean while being stylish all the while. There are many patterns and designs that you could select from. The wooden flooring could only be a part of the entire flooring which can be all natural with say a concrete finish. Add natural elements like pebbles to give it a charming finish.
Make sure there is some space which is covered under a shed so that you could enjoy rains without fear of getting drenched. Depending on the budget, the shed can be transparent giving a perfect window to the stars in the sky while protecting you from the cold in the winters. Throw some rugs and pillows for a great evening. A pergola or a gazebo with sheer curtains, floating in the evening breeze will give you privacy and add a very special touch.
While this could be a tall order, this would certainly add to the relaxing sanctuary you intend to build. The rooftop garden can add certain amount of privacy besides the shade. Blooming flowers will add colors and the greenery will give you a feeling of freshness. Add an element of water like a portable fountain or even an urn of water with some flowers for a great setting for a long relaxed Sunday.
Rooftops can be a place to go bold and experiment. The furniture could be minimal and modern or rustic like wicker furniture or bohemian with wrought iron accessories. You could add small décor elements like sculptures or DIY crafts. Well placed lighting could be a sure shot winner. Moroccan lamps with aroma diffusers are a rage this season. Combine mood lighting with candles, oil lamps and fairy tale lighting on the deck.
Whatever the size of the terrace is, you could make it a welcoming zone for personal well-being, entertaining or just good old watching the sun set.
Happy Home building!!
